With Guide Kristina Read Tambunga | June 18 - July 25, 2019 (12 sessions); Tue/Thu 4:00 PM-5:00 PM PST
Even though we’ve made leaps and bounds in our exploration of the universe, we have more questions than answers. This course explores these baffling mysteries while exploring concepts of which we have more definitive knowledge. We will explore questions such as what the universe is made of, how the Big Bang happened, and whether there is life on other planets. We will dive deep into the enigma of how planets form, what happened to the universe’s original stars, and the size of black holes. While this course doesn’t promise answers, we will talk about what is known and unknown, current research, and have some lively discourse along the way. While there will be academic readings and research as well as a video component, students will also have the opportunity to investigate their own astronomical queries. A great course for the beginning astronomer or the advanced astronomer alike.
