Course DescriptionCOVID -19 is a global pandemic that is often regarded as the most life-threatening pandemic since the 1918 Spanish flu. Northern Italy has already gotten to the point at which doctors must make triage decisions. At the same time, several nations seem to have rapidly gotten the epidemic under control with very little loss of life. Clearly, there are a very wide range of possible outcomes. A significant additional concern, beyond loss of life, is that the social isolation strategies that are widely recommended are leading to significant economic and psychological hardship for many individuals.
What can we as individuals do to reduce the potential loss of life from COVID -19? What can we as individuals do to ameliorate the economic and psychological hardships that people are facing? Built firmly upon the belief that understanding and the ability to take action lead to healthier, more constructive lives, this course will focus on forms of action that individuals and groups can take to reduce the potential for fatalities and to ameliorate the economic and psychological hardships that people are facing.
We can’t promise to save the world, but we can do our best to make a positive difference where we can
